Commodities Brief: Precious metals technical set up continues to deteriorate

The precious metals suffered moderate declines today, with gold closing down 1.22% to finish at 1367 while silver gave back 0.73% to close at 21.60.

Japan exports beat estimates

Japan's trade balance figures for the month of May came in at ¥-993.9 billion vs estimates of ¥-1200.0 billion and a previous trade balance of ¥-362.4 billion. Meanwhile, Japan's adjusted trade balance (May) stood at ¥-821.045 billion vs ¥-892.8 billion expected.
